Kawartha Lakes Food Source is proud to host a variety of community events each year to help us raise money for our organization. These signature events attract hundreds of local supporters and provide an opportunity for your business to connect with new audiences. We’re thankful for our event sponsors who help offset our costs, ensuring all proceeds can directly support our mission to end hunger in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
In a paint class, workshop, or workout class, for example, you can share a skill or hobby where registration is a monetary or non-perishable food donation!

KINDNESS BINGO
Encourage participants to gather all the food items on a bingo card - first one to collect them all, wins!

FRIENDLY COMPETITIONS
Team up with colleagues and challenge another local business or organization to a competition: whoever raises the most money or collects the most food, wins!

PARTIES & CELEBRATIONS
Ask for food donations as an alternative to gifts when celebrating an occasion or having a staff party!

Payroll giving is another way your business can support KLFS, allowing your employees to contribute a percentage of each paycheque to our organization. Payroll giving not only encourages a positive culture at your workplace, but it also shows your team that you’re committed to making a difference in your community.

Why give in this way?
SIMPLICITY
Once initial setup process is complete, this charitable giving tool is effortless for both donors and employers, providing significant tax advantages to those that wish to participate. Donors will automatically receive a charitable tax receipt when Kawartha Lakes Food Source receives your donation.

POSITIVITY
Having a Payroll Giving Program is a great way for your company to encourage a culture of generosity, allowing you to connect with colleagues based on a mutual desire to address the issues that matter to all of you.

PAYROLL GIVING SET UP:

1. Employees provide their employer with written permission to withhold an agreed-upon amount from each paycheque.

2. The payroll department sets up an account called an employee-charity trust. Each time payroll is completed, the withheld amount is deposited into the trust.

3. The employer, as trustee, in turn remits the total amount withheld from the employees to the designated charities.
