Heather Kirby Announces Departure

January 8, 2025 – Kawartha Lakes, ON – It is with appreciation that Kawartha Lakes Food Source announces Heather Kirby, Executive Director since 2016, has resigned to further develop her professional goals and personal achievements.

Since starting at Kawartha Lakes Food Source, Heather has built on the organization’s established foundation, focusing on providing more food to more people by developing programs like the Open Gardens, Family Cooking Project and the Lindsay Community Food Market. These are all ways that the community can access food supports directly from Kawartha Lakes Food Source when they might need additional support.

Throughout Heather’s tenure, she strengthened the operations and governance by establishing a Strategic Plan, a Risk Management Plan, a Handbook for Governance, and completed the necessary work to achieve national accreditation through Food Banks Canada.

“It was a privilege helping the community through my work at Kawartha Lakes Food Source. It was a bittersweet decision for me. Looking ahead at my professional development is very exciting for me,” says Heather about her upcoming departure.
